STRONG STRAWS – A HISTORY
PAPER STRAWS THAT STAY STRONG FOR OVER 4 HOURS!
It seems the internet’s favourite past time is making fun of paper straws going soggy and unravelling before you’ve even had a chance to finish your drink. To make matters worse, many of them, especially in North America, are loaded with Perfluoroalkyl and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances, better known as PFAS ‘forever’ chemicals.
Known for being ahead of the curve, Bygreen started selling eco-friendly alternatives long before the Australian State Governments got serious about banning single use plastics back in 2020. As far back as 2015, we were already selling paper straws. Our in house budget friendly brand Eco-Straw (PFAS free) quickly became the industry standard for hospitality, food and beverage venues.
We stepped up our game with a stronger 4 Ply Eco-Straw range in 2021. Even then, we were not satisfied that 4ply was strong enough, so we have continued to innovate and stay ahead of market trends.
In 2023, we sat down as a team and thought, “How can we do even better?” And thus, the journey started to create a paper straw that would last the distance.
After months of development and testing, we designed a paper straw that was sturdy, strong and PFAS-free. Our manufacturer went above and beyond with quality checks and environmental certification.
But we didn’t stop there. We knew we needed to expand our size offering, and in the process we now have every beverage covered. We have also re-introduced a crowd favourite – the jumbo cocktail straw.
