Global Recycling Day

  • by

Set to take place again on 18th March 2020, The Global Recycling Day (created in 2018) will help recognise and celebrate the importance recycling plays in preserving and securing the future of our planet.  It is a day for the world to come together and put our planet first.

“Recycling is a key part of the circular economy, helping to protect our natural resources. Each year the ‘Seventh Resource’ (recyclables) saves over 700 million tonnes in CO2 emissions and this is projected to increase to 1 billion tons by 2030. There is no doubt recycling is on the front line in the war to save the future of our planet and humanity.”

Announcing their theme for 2020 as #recyclingheros they hope to showcase the important role recycling plays in contributing to a planet that is environmentally stable and encourages a greener future that will benefit us all.

Their mission is two fold

  • To reiterate to world leaders that recycling is far too important not to be a global issue and one that needs an urgent united approach.
  • To remind people across the globe to really think about the waste they generate and the resources used. Until we consider the resources then recycled goods won’t ever see their true potential value being realised.
